What should I wear for my session?

Neutral solid colors provide the best foundation for portraits. Earthy tones and pastels are GREAT options. We recommend deciding one outfit, and building off of that. Avoid bold patterns or tops with text or images. Your photos are timeless keepsakes to be enjoyed during any season (of life or of the year).

Pro tip: Try to avoid bright white or black, this can sometimes make you blend into the surroundings depending on the location. If you need help deciding, let me know and I can offer some helpful suggestions.

What do I do about posing?

I am there to guide you every step of the way. I provide you with a foundational pose and build from there to naturally make it your own. If it feels funny, it probably looks amazing. I ask that you trust in the process and know that I've got you covered!

I have young children, what if they don't cooperate?

That is the beauty of family, it can be chaotic and silly. Don't worry, a little chaos is perfectly normal. I go the extra mile to make it enjoyable for your littles. Let their personalities shine and we will be sure to get the good stuff! My family session questionnaire will also ask you if there is something specific that will help incentivize them!

What is your editing process?

Your photos are thoughtfully selected and retouched in post-processing. The Hilltop editing style is bright, clean, and colorful. What this means is the priorities in my final images are clean light throughout the image and the colors are true to life.

What if there is bad weather during my scheduled session?

In the case of inclement weather that is too severe or presents unsafe conditions, the session will be rescheduled at no additional charge.

What if I am late or miss my session?

Sessions are limited to their individually scheduled time frame. If you are running 15 minutes late, or are unable to make your appointment, you will forfeit your session retainer fee and must pay an additional retainer to rebook. Sessions that are rescheduled 48 hours prior to the scheduled time will not forfeit their retainer.
